Doug is an accomplished leader with over 30 years of experience in federal agencies, Fortune 500 companies, and small businesses. He has successfully implemented strategic leadership practices and grown small and startup companies by leveraging his areas of expertise, including corporate strategy development, business development, project/program management, new product development, advanced manufacturing, and LEAN manufacturing.
Doug’s leadership experience spans various high-tech industries, including information technology, aerospace, medical devices, RF and GPS systems, 4G/5G wireless small cell infrastructure, and nuclear weapons. He has started up three project management offices (PMO) and implemented new product development processes and ISO/AS9100 quality systems. In
addition, he led the automation, capital budget, and process improvement of 26 manufacturing facilities in North America for a Multi-National company.
As COO, Doug led the operation’s growth of a wireless company from $1.8M to $33M in just four years, demonstrating his ability to drive growth and profitability. Throughout his career, Doug has held executive positions, including COO, Director of Operations and Quality Assurance, Director of PMO and Engineering, and has been recognized with numerous awards, including El Paso County employer of the year, Colorado manufacturer of the year, Boeing’s small company supplier of the year, and 688th of Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. with a three-year growth rate of 637%.
In his recent role as Director of IT Federal Business Development, Doug developed a “Best Practices” federal business capture, business development, and proposal process resulting in winning IT business from federal agencies. He also led two SBA Mentor/Protégé programs with small companies, demonstrating his commitment to developing future leaders.
Doug holds a BS in Engineering and an MBA, as well as a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. He served in the U.S. Army for over 30 years and held the rank of Colonel, culminating as a Brigade Command in the U.S. Army Reserve. During his military service, he served as the Chief of the Observers Team (CHOT) for US/ROK Combined Joint Military Operations in the Korean Theater of Operations, earning a bronze star during combat operations and the Legion of Merit. He also holds a PMP certification and two patents, further highlighting his exceptional knowledge and expertise.
